Spring into the Metaverse
This Spring more and more Brands are exploring the Metaverse and NFTs. From retail to burgers, beer and running shoes, Brands are all experimenting with marketing in the Metaverse. Marketers are trying to learn what will offer the consumers the best Brand experience, what will stick with consumers and what will have the best long-term return. It’s a fast-growing marketplace expected to reach $800MM by 2024 (Source: Bloomberg News) Almost 75% of Gen Z consumers have bought a digital item within a video game and 60% believe companies should sell merchandise on metaverse platforms, according to a January survey of 1,001 US consumers conducted by e-commerce platform Obsess.
Most recently, the first-ever Metaverse fashion week was held. There were some glitches but overall it was a great success. “The metaverse opens up new possibilities to experience the narrative of beauty,” said Alex Box, creator of the Estée Lauder NFTs. “For this exclusive Estée Lauder wearable, I’m translating the essence of Advanced Night Repair by immersing you in ‘Radiance Aura’, a twinkling constellation of glow and magic.”

MSMI Events
Snap Chat Wednesdays
Every other Wednesday, the MSMI team gets together for informal conversations with our Adjunct faculty. Attendees learn to get inside tips and personalized advice from faculty members in different industries. In March, Prof. Carly Guerra and Paul Kramer shared their expertise in the beauty industry, e-commerce, consulting, and loyalty. Stay tuned for more in April!
MSMI Alumni Career Night
At the end of March, current MSMI students welcomed back four alums: Puneet Gangrade, Data Science Team Lead at Media.Monks, Stephen Thylan-Nussbaum, Senior Analyst at Mindshare, Yiwei Bai, Data Analyst at Tom Ford&LaMer, and Weiya Han, Data Governance Analyst at Zenith.
The panelists moderated by Dr. Peter Johnson spoke about their career journeys, the interview process, and what insights they learned in their current positions. It was a great night as students had an opportunity to have meaningful one-on-one conversations with the panelists.
Hackathon Celebration
The MSMI program is getting quite a reputation in the Hackathon world. Once again the MSMI team of Siddharth Bhuptani, Shambhavi Chaturvedi, Ken Coseto, Jerome Dominguez, Noah Duke, Anahita Hirani, Rosaline Wang took first place in the 2022 Mindshare Advanced Analytics Hackathon held this past February.
Earlier in December 2021, the team of: Meet Dave, Shefali Gupta, Aditya Gupta, Nithin Bharadwaj Birur Lakshmikanth, Marielle Rivera, Phuong Tran, Katrina Velilla also took first place. Time to celebrate!!!
MSMI Brand Agents
Congratulations to our new MSMI Brand Agents. The team of Shefali Gupta and Katrina Velilla presented their social media proposal to raise the Brand profile of the MSMI program to Jenna Gambino, Assoc. Director, Marketing Communications and Events and Fran Jankowski, Social Media and Events Manager for GSB Communications.
Their proposal highlighted the unique multi-faceted aspect of the MSMI program under an umbrella campaign hashtag #IamMarketingIntelligent which will feature students and alums posting #IamStragtegyIntelligent, #IamDataIntelligent, #IamGloballyIntelligent like the examples our brand agents created.
