Breaking for Spring
As the MSMI cohort runs off to Spring Break, they join thousands of other GenZ and young millennials who are searching for beaches, party and fun. This annual rite has been around for more than 70 years. But this year, some cities such as Miami are working to dissuade the revelers from coming to Miami by instituting a number of safety and restrictive regulations such as curfews and alcohol checkpoints. The City of Miami Beach has been running this public service announcement.
Other sun cities such as Vegas, Corpus Christi and San Padre Island Texas are actively marketing across the US to attract responsible “breakers” to their area. They are running social and digital campaigns to attract Spring Breakers and hiring extra workers to handle the crowds.
Despite the colder weather, NYC is listed as one of the top five Spring Break destinations this year. It’s a great time to explore the city and all that it has to offer. This year Spring Break coincides with Easter. NYC’s Easter Parade is always fun and quirky but there is much more to enjoy. NYCSpring
March Madness
Although the term “March Madness” was first used to describe a high school basketball game, now the phrase is synonymous with the NCAA Division 1 Championship Tournament thanks to sportscaster Brent Musburger’s description of the frenzy and excitement surrounding the games back in the 80s. This year as marketers embrace the madness, it’s the women’s game that is attracting all the attention spurred by the phenomenal record-breaking scorer, Caitlin Clark of Iowa. Brands such as State Farm, AT&T, GatorAde are all investing heavily in promoting the women’s tournament. MarchMadnesswomens-basketball
Although the Rams did not get a bid to the NCAA Tournament, MSMI students, faculty and alums cheered the team at their final game at Rose Hill. They were joined by three alums, Alex Bettenhauser MSMI’22, Damon Zeng Damon Zeng MSMI’23 and Anahita Hirani MSMI ‘22.
